DC Comics has announced a new Elseworlds series set in the world of the bestselling series DC vs. Vampires. Writer Matthew Rosenberg and artist Otto Schmidt reunite for the brand-new twelve-issue series.

DC vs. Vampires: World War V continues the stories Rosenberg and Schmidt began in both DC vs. Vampires and DC vs. Vampires: All-Out War, extending the lore of the horror series even further as a part of the new Elseworlds lineup. DC revealed cover art for the first issue of the new series along with a look at the interior art showing a terrifying Robin and Batwoman going on a nightly prowl. DC vs. Vampires: World War V #1 goes on sale on Aug. 14.

DC’s preview for the first issue of the new series reads: “It’s the dead of winter, and any hope for a fragile truce between the Green Arrow-led human heroes and vampire queen Barbara Gordon’s army has been dashed by Damian Wayne and his guerrilla fighters. Damian is the only one fighting back against the bloodthirsty hordes, leaving Green Arrow with a choice: Does he stand and fight or sacrifice the boy in the name of peace?”

New DC Heroes Will Join DC vs. Vampire’s World

With the arrival of DC vs. Vampires: World War V in the Elseworlds imprint, DC has teased that “reimagined versions of current DC Super Heroes” will arrive in Rosenberg and Schmidt’s dark and terrifying world. It remains to be seen which new characters will join Barbara Gordon, Damian Wayne, and Green Arrow as World War V unfolds, with more details expected to be revealed closer to the first issue’s release.
