Blue Beetle is now available on Vudu, and Fandango has officially released the opening 10 minutes of the DC Comics-based movie online…

Blue Beetle is now available to order on Vudu, Fandango’s premium on-demand video service. Warner Bros.’ latest DC Comics-based adventure can be purchased on the platform in SD, HD and UHD for $19.99.

To mark the movie’s Digital debut, Fandango has officially released the first 10 minutes (well, 9 minutes 58 seconds to be exact) online.

The opening scene begins with the villainous Victoria Kord and her right-hand man Conrad Carapax about to unearth the alien Scarab that will alter the course of Jaime Reyes’ life. We then see the Scarab hurtling through space in the movie’s credits sequence, before Jaime arrives home to Palmera City where his family are waiting to greet him.

After catching up with his parents, uncle and sister, Jaime learns that his family are in danger of losing their home, and promises to use his degree to find a job to save their business and get them out of debt.

Though Blue Beetle did prove to have stronger legs than fellow recent DC movies The Flash and Shazam! Fury of the Gods, even taking its relatively modest budget into account, it didn’t manage to find much success at the box office. A sequel was likely never on the cards, anyway, since James Gunn and Peter Safran have plans in place to reboot the franchise with the new DCU.

Gunn has confirmed that Jaime Reyes will remain on as the DCU’s Blue Beetle, however.

“Recent college grad Jaime Reyes (Xolo Mariduena) returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it,” reads the synopsis. “As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab.”

“When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armour capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Super Hero Blue Beetle.”

The cast also includes Bruna Marquezine, Belissa Escobedo, Adriana Barraza, Elpidia Carrillo, Dami?n Alc?zar, and Raoul Max Trujillo.
