DC Comics has grown into far more than its comic book beginnings. The brand has evolved drastically over the decades, with many now recognizing DC as a full-blown superhero brand. Heavy-hitting heroes like Superman and Batman are household names, and a variety of films, TV shows, and video game adaptations have helped expand that reach even further.

However, when it comes to DC’s recent gaming ventures, there has been a bit of a struggle. DC was once at the top of the superhero-based game adaptation ranks, thanks to the likes of the Arkham games and the Injustice series. In the past few years, though, titles like the ill-received Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and the now-canceled Wonder Woman project from Monolith have left DC in a gaming drought. Right now, DC doesn’t have a lot to offer with its gaming roster, but the long-awaited The Wolf Among Us 2 is still stuck in development hell, leaving it in a position that is comparable to Hollow Knight: Silksong.

If a Marvel Rivals Equivalent For DC Happens, It May Want to Adapt This Comic Universe

Marvel Rivals has brought fans an action-packed hero shooter, and if DC follows suit, one comic universe would be perfect to adapt.

The Wolf Among Us games are based on Fables, a comic series published by Vertigo, a label owned by DC Comics.

The wait for Hollow Knight: Silksong has been one of the most talked-about development cycles in the industry. Announced back in 2019, Silksong became notorious for its delays and silence from its developer, Team Cherry. The Wolf Among Us 2 has become a mirror image of Silksong, as Telltale Games has kept tight-lipped about the project. Granted, there have been a few updates regarding The Wolf Among Us 2, but as the wait continues, the silence has grown even louder.

The Wolf Among Us 2 Has Faced a Rocky Production

The Wolf Among Us 2 was originally supposed to be released back in 2018, but developer Telltale Games dealt with a variety of internal issues that eventually led to the closure of most of the company. However, after being acquired by LCG Entertainment, the studio was back up and running, with The Wolf Among Us 2 being revived in the process. This wasn’t the end of Telltale’s struggles, though.

With a brand-new launch target of 2023 hoped for, Telltale had to delay The Wolf Among Us 2 a second time. Between switching from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5 and an unfortunate series of lay-offs, the highly-anticipated sequel was once again in what seemed like a limbo state. There were hopes and speculation that The Wolf Among Us 2 would launch sometime in 2024, but now that the year has come and gone, there’s no clear release in sight for the game.

The first issue of the Fables comic series was published in 2002, with The Wolf Among Us launching back in 2013.

The Wolf Among Us and Hollow Knight Fans Hopefully Have Good News Ahead

Summer Game Fest airs this Friday, June 6, at 5 PM EST.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is rumored to make an appearance.

If there was ever a likely place for Team Cherry to reveal Silksong, it would be Summer Game Fest. The event is a popular stage for developers to announce new projects and reveal updates of anticipated titles, so it’s not outside the realm of possibility for Silksong to show up.

However, The Wolf Among Us 2 would be a thrilling one-two punch. As far as it’s known, the Telltale project isn’t near completion, so an appearance at Summer Game Fest may be unlikely. If Silksong comes out of hiding, though, it will hopefully pave the way for The Wolf Among Us 2 to be the next “long awaited sequel” in line for an exciting new reveal.
