The final two issues of the latest major Batman comic book event have been delayed by DC Comics.

Per Bleeding Cool, both Batman #162 and #163 have been delayed by two months each. This comes on the heels of the announcement that Batman #161 had been delayed by one week, which didn’t seem like that much of a shift, nor indicative of further delays at the time. As of now, Batman #163, which will mark the final chapter of writer Jeph Loeb and artist Jim Lee’s “H2SH” storyline, is set to land on comic book store shelves on October 29.

A New Batman Logo was Revealed and Most Fans Completely Missed It

Batman is getting a brand-new logo, and fans already know what it looks like thanks to the next crossover between Marvel and DC Comics.

These delays might be a disappointing update for fans, but they are nothing new for Batman, particularly not when it comes to the follow-up storyline entitled “H2SH.” Originally, “H2SH” was slated to begin late in 2024 and would have followed hot on the heels of all-star creator Chip Zdarsky’s critically acclaimed run on the series. Instead, the story didn’t begin until the release of Batman #158 this past April. Since then, readers have watched as Thomas Elliot, better known as Hush, has launched a coordinated crusade of terror against the heroes and villains of Gotham City.

First seen in the pages of 2003’s Batman #609 by Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee, Thomas Elliot was a childhood friend of Bruce Wayne who grew up in a similarly affluent home. Unfortunately, Thomas’ parents were absent and abusive rather than kind and compassionate, like the elder Waynes were for Bruce. Eventually, Thomas was driven to carry out a murderous plot against his parents, and when Bruce’s father, Thomas Wayne, saved Marla Elliot’s life, the future villain developed a deep-seated hatred for his old friend and everything the Wayne family stood for as a whole.

Robert Pattinson’s Batman 2 Gets an Update and Vote of Confidence from James Gunn

Gunn opens up about Reeves’ highly anticipated script for The Batman sequel.

Over the course of DC Comics’ original “Hush” storyline, Thomas embedded himself as a prominent and widely feared figure in Gotham City’s underworld, launched numerous attacks against the Batman Family, and even manipulated various members of the Dark Knight’s rogues gallery into helping him along in his endeavors. By the time that the dust had settled, long-held secrets were uncovered and entire chapters of Bruce Wayne’s life had been turned inside-out.

As such, “Hush” quickly became a fan-favorite storyline, not to mention a modern classic that has been retold across numerous comic books, television series, and even a Batman: Hush animated feature film released in 2019.
