DC Studios has officially announced its next adult animated series. Mister Miracle will headline his own self-titled series from Warner Bros. Animation, based on Tom King and Mitch Gerads’ critically acclaimed 12-issue comic book series.

King is attached as showrunner and executive producer on Mister Miracle, which is in production but without a network at this time. King is an acclaimed and beloved member of the comic book industry, and Mister Miracle marks the latest DC Studios project to feature his involvement. His 2021 limited series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow was adapted for the big screen by Ana Nogueira, with the DC Universe movie starring Milly Alcock in the title role currently in post-production and slated for release in June 2026. King is also an executive producer and writer on the HBO series Lanterns, which centers on the Green Lantern Corps and is also set in the DCU. A first look at Mister Miracle was unveiled by Warner Bros. at the Annecy International Animation Festival and can be viewed below.

Mister Miracle will be the second adult animated series from Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios, following the first season of Creature Commandos, which served as the first entry in the DCU. At this time, it’s unclear if Mister Miracle will be set in the DCU or will be released under the Elseworlds branding, which is reserved for projects that do not take place in the shared universe that James Gunn is overseeing for DC Studios.

While Mister Miracle is the second adult animated series from DC Studios, it’s not the second overall animated project that the studio has announced. In addition to a second season of Creature Commandos, which is currently in production for HBO Max, DC Studios greenlit back in March three cartoons — Starfire!, My Adventures with Green Lantern, and DC Super Powers — all of which will fall under the DC Elseworlds branding. A feature-length animated adaptation of The Jurassic League is also reportedly in development, as is an animated series that will continue Jaime Reyes’ journey as the Blue Beetle, with Xolo Maridueña reprising his role from the 2023 live-action movie.

The following series description for Mister Miracle has been shared by DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation: “No prison can hold him. No trap can contain him. He is Scott Free, the worldwide celebrity sensation known as Mister Miracle, and he is the greatest escape artist who ever lived. But can he pull off the ultimate trick — and escape death itself? Something has gone horribly wrong with the perfect life that Scott and his warrior wife Big Barda have built for themselves on Earth. With war raging between their home worlds of Apocalypse and New Genesis, Scott’s cruel adoptive father Darkseid seems to have finally captured the Anti-Life Equation — the ultimate weapon that will give Darkseid total dominance over the universe.”
