As Great As a Justice League Game Could Be, It’s Not Even The Best DC Team to Adapt

A Justice League game feels like a natural goal for DC to pursue, but there’s one team that could be even better for the job. With DC having a wealth of characters at its disposal, it feels like there is no end to the games that could potentially come from the company. While Batman has been the best example of the success that could come from DC video games, there is still plenty more territory to explore. A Justice League game will probably happen eventually. However, that doesn’t mean that DC’s other superhero teams should be ignored in gaming.

While DC games have struggled recently, the company’s potential shouldn’t be written off. While Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League underperformed, and the cancellation of Monolith’s Wonder Woman game was a disappointment, there are still some bright spots worth pointing out. The Batman: Arkham games were a successful action series that brought many players into the Dark Knight’s world, and the Injustice games are legitimately fun fighters by Mortal Kombat‘s NetherRealm Studios. DC has an enormous multiverse of stories and characters to pull from. Picking the right ones, especially with such popular characters, could be the first step towards the next great DC game.

The Teen Titans Are a Popular DC Superhero Team

One opportunity for an exciting new DC game could come in the form of the Teen Titans. Teen Titans has been around since the 1960s, and as their name implies, they’re a team of teenage superheroes. However, the team got a major boost in popularity thanks to their self-titled animated series in 2003. Since then, the team has seen several new lineups in the comics, although the five from the cartoon are arguably still the most iconic and memorable members. They already had a game back in 2006, but the time could be right for Teen Titans to return to gaming.

Teen Titans Features a Lot of Likable, Entertaining Personalities

With the inclusion of iconic characters like Batman’s son Damian Wayne, a Teen Titans game would have a healthy selection of potential roster members. These characters also have a blend of personalities that could potentially lead to fun interactions. Just looking at the show alone, there’s the dark, sarcastic Raven, boisterous Cyborg, and wisecracking Beast Boy. Going into other iterations of the team will offer up even more characters, like the energetic Roundhouse and tough-talking brawler Crush. Teen Titans has a long history of interesting and entertaining characters. A video game should be able to capitalize on that through the team’s interactions.

Members of the Teen Titans Have a Variety of Cool Powers

One potential advantage to a Teen Titans game is that, like the roster of Marvel Rivals, the collected characters could feature a wide variety of abilities. Several members of the Titans have powers that could be very versatile, such as Raven’s magic and Beast Boy’s animal transformations. Even characters with seemingly similar roles could play very differently. For instance, Cyborg could be a slower powerhouse brawler, while Starfire’s flight could give her a playstyle revolving around mobility and diving in for heavy damage. The Teen Titans are a fun group of superheroes, and in a video game, they should feel fun to play.

A Teen Titans game could have more upside than a Justice League game. The future of DC games could go through many of the company’s properties, and that includes its most famous superhero teams. The Justice League is DC’s premier hero team, and a game starring them seems inevitable. At the same time, the Teen Titans have an incredible amount of potential to be the source of a fun, exciting game in their own right.
