WARNING: Contains Spoilers for Trinity: Daughter of Wonder Woman #1!
DC is no stranger to reversing death, and while it’s usually members of the Bat-Family or Super-Family making miraculous comebacks, it now looks like an iconic Wonder Woman character is joining them. If the surprise cameo at the end of a recent issue is any indication, Diana’s greatest love (and the father of her child), Steve Trevor, is officially returning to the DC Universe.
Tom King, Belén Ortega, and Alejandro Sánchez’s Trinity: Daughter of Wonder Woman series has finally arrived, and its debut issue already proves this will be one of DC’s most fun, and potentially lore-altering, comics when it comes to Diana and the state of her family.
While the series follows Diana’s daughter, Lizzie, it also brings the spotlight back to Damian Wayne and Jon Kent, restoring one of fans’ most dearly missed dynamics, now with Lizzie added to the mix. But it’s not just Robin and Superboy making a more than welcome return. The final page of the issue features none other than Steve Trevor, and it looks like he’s doing everything he can to return to the land of the living.

For clarification, Trinity: Daughter of Wonder Woman takes place about seven years ahead of where current continuity is, with Lizzie now a child rather than an infant. Interestingly, the story includes two older versions of Lizzie (one a teenager and the other a young adult), who also join the narrative. The plot centers around the youngest Lizzie, mourning the fact that she never knew her father and is growing up without one. In response, the teenage Lizzie uses a time-traveling sphere to go back in time and comfort her younger self, while the eldest Lizzie gets pulled into the time-travel chaos after deciding to fix the mess the other two have created.

2024 Revealed the Full Origin of Wonder Woman’s Daughter: Who Is Trinity? Explained
Wonder Woman’s daughter officially entered DC’s main continuity in 2024, unveiling the shocking origin story of Trinity after much speculation.
Eventually, the three Lizzies decide that as long as they have the time sphere, they are going to use it to travel back and save the father they never got to know. The scene then shifts to show the three Greek Fates tied up, with their thread held by none other than Steve Trevor. He makes it clear that he intends to find and reunite with his daughter. The comic ends there, but the message is clear. Steve and Lizzie are both on a mission to find each other. It remains unclear whether Steve has fully returned from the dead, or if he has, how he managed to beat death roughly seven years later. However, one thing is certain. Steve Trevor is returning to DC’s stories in a major way.

It will be interesting to see what twists and turns Tom King has planned when it comes to Steve’s apparent return to the land of the living. Given that the comic already involves time-travel shenanigans, this may not even be the same Steve who died. However, the fact that Steve has confronted the Fates and taken hold of the threads of destiny suggests that this is a version of him truly fighting to rewrite his family’s fate and reunite with both Lizzie and Wonder Woman. Considering DC’s long history of reversing character deaths, it seems all the more likely that King will follow through with what he has set in motion. It will be more than interesting to see whether Wonder Woman, Lizzie, and Steve ultimately get their happily ever after as a family.
