Welcome back to Upcoming Comics! This Wednesday is a special occasion for me here at Batman News. It’s actually my three year anniversary writing for the site! Over the course of those three years, I’ve written 327 articles including this one. It’ll be 328 when Batman #159 comes out the day of. I feel like I should do something special to celebrate, but I’m not quite sure what that would be. It should probably be something Batman related, right? If anyone has any ideas let me know. Until then, let’s look at some comics.

Upcoming Comics

Batman #159

After the shocking events of the last issue, Batman must make the hardest decision of his life! Guest-starring Nightwing, Batgirl, and Red Hood!

Written By: Jeph Loeb
Art By: Jim Lee

Thoughts: I haven’t even read the issue yet and I already know that whatever this is is going to get people upset.

Justice League Unlimited #6

“We Are Yesterday” part two of six. The horrific hidden identity of the Inferno cult has been revealed, and the Legion of Doom is here to take no prisoners! But some-thing is…off about these ferocious foes of the Justice League. They fight without wisdom, without experience—but with a secret edge?! Buckle up for the biggest clash in Justice League history as Lex Luthor, the Joker, Cheetah, Grodd, and all the vile villains of the original Legion of Doom arrive to terrorize tomorrow!

Written By: Mark Waid, Christopher Cantwell
Art By: Travis G. Moore

Thoughts: Okay, that first issue last week didn’t feel like it really counted as part of We Are Yesterday. *Now* we can start the actual crossover.

Harley Quinn #50

Bang bang bang! Introducing the soon-to-be DC Comics sensation—the Gunbuddies! They love each other almost as much as they love guns! Take it from me, everybody wants a piece of Harley Quinn—including my own brain! Can the Clown Queen of Crime (me) dodge assassination attempts, navigate the responsibilities of being part of a neighborhood party planning committee, and come to terms with my own super-superego all in time to not have a surprise aneurism all over the floor of my favorite bodega!

Written By: Elliott Kalan
Art By: Mirka Andolfo

Thoughts: There’s definitely a lot going on in that solicitation. I’ve reread it a few times and I’m still not quite sure what it’s about.

Beyond the Bat

Welcome to Beyond the Bat, where we take a quick look at the rest of DC’s comics coming out this week.

Graphic Novel Watch

Sometimes you need more than floppies. Sometimes you want something that can sit nicely on your shelf that proudly displays your favorite stories. That’s when you turn to graphic novels. Let’s see what bat collections are coming out this week:

Ratings

Most Excited: Justice League Unlimited #6– Now we can finally get a solid look at what this crossover will be like.

Least Excited: Harley Quinn #50– If there’s one consistent theme that Harley has had over the past year, it’s a lack of clear direction aside from “goofy”, and this issue is a great example of that.

Wild Card: Batman #159– Whatever it is Loeb has planned for Jason, if nothing else, will probably get people talking. Sometimes that’s the most you can ask of a comic.

Well that’s it for this week! Let us know in the comments what comics you’re looking forward to.
