The year is shaping up fast and as 2025 goes on, DC Comics is setting up plenty of stories that are really going to defy what fans have come to expect. DC All In is going strong and in the next several months, it’s only going to get better.

DC Comics made a lot of promises with its latest initiative and, so far, it’s lived up to them with the strong mainline titles and the Absolute line. As time marches forward, there are a handful of stories that look like they’re really going to give fans something special.

Supergirl

The Maiden of Might Returns to the Spotlight

It’s been quite some time since Kara Zor-El has had a series of her own, but that’s all changing in May when the eighth volume of Supergirl begins. Not only is she getting a new series, she’s getting a more familiar costume and getting back to her roots in Midvale, where another Supergirl has taken her place (and plans to take Kara’s life)! DC has been really pushing the Superman side of the DC Universe and it’s nice to see that the Summer of Superman is also lifting his supporting cast and giving them an opportunity to shine as well.

Absolute Green Lantern

A Bold Reinvention of the Emerald Knights

The Absolute Universe has been crushing it so far with its first swath of titles. But spring is finally seeing the DC Universe’s newest corner expand with Absolute Green Lantern. Details of the series have been kept under wraps, but with superstar creators Al Ewing and Jahnoy Lindsay onboard, hype is through the roof. Plus, fan-favorite character Jo Muellin is taking the lead in this series, with Hal Jordan and John Stewart playing big roles as well. It’ll be interesting to see how the horrors of Darkseid’s world are going to change the Green Lantern mythology fans know so well.

Mister Terrific: Year One

A Look Back at the Smartest Justice Leaguer’s Origin

Mister Terrific, one of the smartest people in the DC Universe, has been playing a big role in books like Justice League Unlimited and Challengers of the Unknown. But Michael Holt is about to get a story that focuses on him and his tragic origins in Mister Terrific: Year One. The series will re-examine where Holt came from, the struggles he faced in his darkest moments, and the events that led him to become a pillar for the superhero community. With how important Mister Terrific has become in the DCU, now’s the perfect time to see what events shaped him.

Superman Unlimited

A Brand-New Direction for the Man of Steel

Custom Image by Megan Peters

As previously mentioned, the “Summer of Superman” initiative is pushing the Man of Steel hard. This May, Dan Slott comes to the DC Universe to team up with Rafael Albuquerque for Superman Unlimited. This series has made a lot of big promises, such as the Daily Planet going global and new supporting characters coming into the Last Son of Krypton’s life. But the biggest surprise is that the DCU is about to be inundated with a mass of green kryptonite. With threats lurking behind every corner, it’s going to be a nail-biter seeing how Superman survives this new status quo.

Absolute Flash

The Scarlet Speedster is About to Go on the Adventure of a Lifetime

Absolute Green Lantern won’t be alone when it drops as Jeff Lemire and Nick Robles’ Absolute Flash will join it. This version of the Fastest Man Alive won’t have a Speed Force to draw from or a legacy to live up to, but Wally West will still, hopefully, have the same heart. Aside from how cool the Absolute Flash looks, his versions of the Rogues look even cooler, coming off more like militarized special agents instead of blue-collar bad guys. As far as DC’s newest additions go,Absolute Flash looks like it is going to be an incredibly fun title.

Batman

The Dark Knight is Ready for a New Chapter

Hype may be building for “Hush 2”, but DC is already planning the next phase of the Caped Crusader’s life. This September, Batman is being relaunched for its fourth volume with Matt Fraction joining Jorge Jiménez. Few details are known right now, but DC’s first official look at the new series reveals that the story will be on smaller, but loosely connected cases rather than one long, ongoing adventure. It sounds like it’ll be a nice change of pace from the previous run and if the preview art is anything to go by, it’s going to be a must-read series.

2

Resurrection Man: Quantum Karma

A Dramatic Cosmic Tale of an Underrated Hero

Technically, Ram V and Anand RK’s Resurrection Man: Quantum Karma is going to be under DC’s Black Label branding and won’t impact the mainline universe. However, the creative team appears to be bringing something special with Mitch Shelley’s return, which sees the hero develop new powers. A terrifying villain has emerged, one with a dark and twisted connection to DC’s immortal figure. Ram V is delivering some of his best work in The New Gods right now, and if he and Anand RK deliver something half as good, this could be one of the best DC books on the stands.

Absolute Martian Manhunter

An Anticipated and Experimental Overhaul

The Absolute line is one of the boldest things DC Comics is doing right now, but Absolute Martian Manhunter may be its most out-there yet. Deniz Camp and Javier Rodríguez are almost completely changing the classic DC hero’s origin, reinventing him as a psychic parasite who bonds with FBI agent John Jones, leading him into the middle of an intergalactic war. Camp has promised that this was a very different kind of story, not unlike Grant Morrison’s work in Animal Man. If this book holds to those promises, Absolute Martian Manhunter could actually be DC Comics’ book of the year.
